Station Street Improvements Project
Station Street Closed to Through Traffic from Center Street to Park Avenue
Work on the final phase of the Station Street Improvements Project is in progress. Part of this phase includes removal of the roadway asphalt, re-grading of the street to tie in to the new curb & gutter and storm sewer grades and repaving.
In order to complete this work, Station Street will need to be temporarily closed to through traffic as follows:
March 23 - April 3, 2015
Closure: Station Street from Center Street to Park Avenue
April 6 - April 17, 2015
Closure: Station Street from Center Street to Pine Street
Weather permitting, work will take place in the right-of-way from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm each day. The road will be closed to thru traffic 24 hours a day until base paving is completed. Parking will be restricted during construction. On-street parking in the residential areas will be permitted during non-working hours only. Emergency access and access for refuse pick up will be maintained. Detours will be posted to help guide motorists during construction.
Phases I,II and III of the Station Street Improvements Project are now complete. Phase I consisted of installing underground conduit for undergrounding of the existing overhead Dominion Power, Verizon, and Cox Communications lines. Phase II of the project consisted of relocating overhead utility lines underground, removal of poles, and installation of underground services to residences and businesses if they did not already exist. Phase III consisted of installation of a new watermain, storm sewer, curb and gutter, sidewalk, crosswalks, and repaving. Click here to view planned improvements
